Hi, I'm Abby! I am a self-taught photographer based in Charleston, SC. I'm from Fayetteville, NC but I ended up in Charleston after high school to study English at Charleston Southern University. After a few semesters, I changed my major to Communication and kept English as my minor. This change opened up new opportunities and allowed me to be more creative. I have my BA in Communication Studies and I am now working as a Communications Coordinator for the community of Nexton in Summerville, SC through CCMC.
My time at CSU allowed me to participate in a few different internships and volunteer opportunities that have taught me much about social media, design, and photography. Photography especially caught my attention during my internship with the Church at LifePark. I have had a camera of some sorts in my hands since high school for things like yearbook and personal interest, but during my internship, LifePark allowed me to use their church camera, the Canon R5. I fell in love and I knew I wanted one for myself when the time was right. Ever since getting one for myself, I have been taking every opportunity I can get to capture memories for friends and family, expand my knowledge, and grow my portfolio! It has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences that I hope to continue to grow in.
I am confident in my ability to capture creative and beautiful moments for clients, but I will admit, I am still learning how my camera works and compares to others! I've got the basics down, but there's so much more to discover and learn. For now, it's just a hobby that I thoroughly enjoy. I hope to grow in studio and landscape photography if given the opportunity. It's also a goal of mine to one day photograph weddings!
Random Facts About Me:
- When I wasn't interning or taking classes during college, I worked at a few restaurants as a server, including a place called the Picklebar, where you can play pickleball, eat, and drink. I also learned how to play pickleball in January of 2024, and now I play every chance I can get.
- I love aviation and aircraft in general. I love to see the Blue Angels fly at local airshows and watch commercial planes landing and taking off at CHS near where I live.
- My dream is to one day be a travel photographer. I definitely have a long ways to go, but I'd like to work on that dream by traveling more and taking photos of strangers for free.
